Collaborative Divorce

Collaborative divorce is a legal process that assists in an extensive range of family issues without the threat of litigation. In this procedure, a separate collaboratively trained attorney represents each side to provide advice and understanding in the joint effort to settle all issues bringing in a team of financial neutrals, child specialists, divorce coaches, etc. as needed to resolve the disputes. The benefits of this approach are to reduce conflicts while providing legal, emotional and financial direction and resolution to each party without filing the case until all matters have been resolved. This process requires both parties to provide full disclosure of necessary documents. Resolution of the matter is typically made through a series of meetings along with the necessary people of the team. The parties experience the entire process seeing and hearing things first hand allowing them to understand the other’s position and the time involved reaching settlement. The collaborative divorce provides an opportunity for the parties to work together and decide their fate rather than putting their lives in the hands of a Judge who knows very little about them or their children. Collaborative divorce is a beneficial process allowing people to move forward amicably with a sense of security knowing the decisions made by them were appropriate and justified.
